Biography:

Dr. Melissa L. Clayton is the Instructional Designer in the Koehler Center for Instruction, Innovation, and Engagement. In this role, she assists faculty in designing and developing media-rich educational materials that enhance student learning. Melissa is available to collaborate with instructors on course design and high impact teaching practices. She is passionate about inclusive and culturally responsive pedagogy and enjoys discussing backward course design, content and learning objective alignment, learner-centered engagement strategies, Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TiLT) methods, and differentiated instruction techniques.

Originally from Ellisville, MS, Dr. Clayton attended Ole Miss for her B.A. in English and stayed for her M.A. in Higher Education before moving to Texas in 2016. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington where she focused her dissertation research on perceptions of vertical transfer student stigmatization at the university level.
