While TCU’s participation in SARA grants TCU institutional authorization to enroll students from SARA member states and permit TCU students to complete experiential learning placements in SARA member states under certain conditions, programs that lead to professional licensure may require authorizations or approvals in addition to SARA. To learn more about NC-SARA Professional Licensure requirements, please go to Professional Licensure Directory.
Students enrolled in or considering programs that lead to licensure should read the information below carefully.
Prior to beginning an online program leading to professional licensure, prospective students should contact the program director with any questions, including the availability of experiential learning placements in a given state and whether the course of study satisfies the educational requirements for licensure in the state where a student intends to practice. Students should also contact the appropriate licensing agency to independently verify whether TCU’s online program satisfies the educational requirements for licensure in a particular state before beginning TCU’s program. Be aware that state licensure requirements may change from time-to-time and that states may have conditions for licensure in addition to educational requirements.
Students must also keep their programs apprised of any out-of-state moves.
Licensure & Certification After Graduation
SARA has no effect on professional licensure or certification requirements; it does not provide for reciprocity in professional licensing or certification nor does it mandate that a state allow a student to apply for licensure or certification. If a program leads to a professional license in Texas, this program may or may not meet the educational requirements for licensure or certification in a state other than Texas. The program director for each online learning program is responsible for reviewing whether the program meets the educational requirements for licensure in the state in which a student intends to practice and communicating this information to out-of-state students and prospective students who have contacted the program.
