As teachers, grading is typically our least favorite part of the job. The grading process can be mind-numbing and rigid, and developing grading schema that accurately reflect learning can present ethical challenges to even the most experienced teachers.

Fortunately, there are alternatives to traditional grading methods. Led by faculty who use alternative grading approaches, this Pedagogy in Practice workshop will investigate three evaluation models: contract grading, learning records, and ungrading.

We’ll discuss the benefits and disadvantages of each, as well as how to implement these alternative approaches in your own classes.
