Outcomes 1.1, 1.2, 1.3Students learn a great deal from the process of working together. They learn about teamwork and how to benefit from each other’s different perspectives and strengths. Using the Groups tool in TCU Online facilitates the ability to organize students in a course into groups to work together on collaborative projects. Groups also allow students to collaborate asynchronously since finding time for everyone to meet in person can often be challenging. Groups can be configured to randomly assign students to groups in various ways, or to let students self-enroll into groups. Groups can also have a single assignment folder to make grading and feedback easier to disseminate, as well as private group discussion areas and lockers for students to share content with each other.

At the end of this workshop, you will know how to:

  • Organize students into groups within a course.
  • Create group Assignment Submission Folders.
  • Create Discussions specifically for members of a group.
  • Create Lockers for groups to organize and store files.
