This hands-on workshop will help you set up the Competencies tool in your course shell by focusing on a single assignment of your choosing. Together, we will create the hierarchical relationships that can show students how TCU Core, program, or department learning goals relate to course learning objectives, course activities, and course assessment standards. Using this structure, you will be able to set thresholds for learning objectives to be marked as completed, and enable automatic tracking of your students’ progress toward course competencies and learning objectives; students will also be able to see their own course-level progress.
You will need to bring electronic copies of as many as possible of the following:
- the relevant TCU Core, program, or department learning outcomes for your course
- the course learning objectives
- an activity associated with these objectives
- the assessment criteria (rubric) for the activity
You will leave with the ability to set up the rest of the competency structure in your course, the skills to implement completion tracking, and the ability to permit students to export course learning objectives and associated artifacts into their e-portfolios.
