Koehler Center OutcomesA well-designed syllabus is key to a successful course. The complete and engaging syllabus acts both as a contract with students, and as a roadmap for what students should know, value, and be able to do by the end of the course. In this workshop, we will practice utilizing a syllabus evaluation rubric to review sample syllabi. We will then discuss elements of course design, including well-crafted grading, attendance, technology, and participation policies. The workshop culminates in the use of the syllabus evaluation rubric to analyze and revise a current syllabus, and a post-workshop one-on-one consultation with a Koehler Center faculty developer.
