Rubrics are valuable tools in teaching and learning. For instructors, they establish evaluation standards which can streamline the grading process, as well as help provide justification of grades. For students, they clarify and communicate alignment of assignments with learning outcomes, and help students identify goals and priorities in assignments.
This hands-on workshop will discuss the pros and cons of using rubrics, will examine different types of rubrics, and will provide time to begin the process of developing rubrics for your own courses.
